With the award show season coming to an end on Sunday, there were many looks that turned heads at this year's Oscars. Following the hottest fashion trends we predicted for 2023, we saw a lot of fringe and sequins with the color white being the star of the show for most. Vogue recapped the looks stating, “Many of the stars chose designs that clashed the traditional with the contemporary, resulting in looks that felt familiar (glamorous and glitzy!) yet entirely fresh,” and we couldn’t agree more. Although there were many amazing looks from last night, here are some of our favorites.
Best Actress winner Michelle Yeoh went the feathered route in her sweetheart-neckline Dior gown. Not only did she rock this look, she also gave one of the best acceptance speeches for women everywhere, stating, “You’re never past your prime to accomplish anything.” What a queen.
Yeoh’s fellow nominee, Michelle Williams, wore a Chanel Couture dress that included a sheer, embellished cape overlay. She exuded elegance and poise.
Hong Chau opted for a soft pink Prada column gown, complete with a black sequined train. We love the contrast and a baby pink moment.
Mindy Kaling wore a dress made by the one and only Vera Wang. This dress leaned into minimalism, providing a slightly bridal look. Kaling turned heads and rocked this look.
Zoe Saldana wore a beautiful gown that had a vintage feel to it. Also leaning towards a bridal look, this multi-fabric layered Fendi dress mimicked similarities of 1920’s fashion.
Blond actress and Oscar nominee Ana de Armas wore a beautiful bedazzled gown with scalloped edges made by Louis Vuitton. The anatomy of the dress’s neckline almost mimics Marilyn Monroe’s infamous ‘Happy Birthday Mr. President’ dress which Kim Kardashian wore for the 2022 Met Gala in May.
It's always exciting to see how looks from the Oscars will inspire everyday fashion in this remaining year to come. We are sad to see the award season come to an end, but we’ll wait patiently in anticipation for what next year's fashion will look like.
